A Whirlwind Road man was arrested on DUI and drug charges after wrecking a side-by-side early Sunday morning.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Department responded shortly after 1:00 AM to the 1300 block of Shelton Mission Road for a DUI. The vehicle was found on its side. A man at the scene, identified as Derrick Roderick, said he was driving, cut the corners too fast, and flipped the vehicle.
Roderick reportedly had a strong odor of alcohol on his person and performed poorly on field sobriety tests. He was taken into custody for DUI 3rd offense.
As Roderick was being placed into the patrol car, he allegedly admitted he stuffed a container inside himself when he saw the deputy arrive. Roderick said the container had suboxone and xanex bars inside of it.
In addition to the DUI charge, Roderick was arrested for possession of schedule 3 and 4 drugs.
