The Greene County Regional Planning Commission will meet Tuesday afternoon and will consider a revision to the Zoning Resolution concerning solar and wind energy systems, data centers/bitcoin mining facilities, and site plan regulations.
The discussion is one of the many that the planning commission has had regarding the topics, which is a major one here in Greene County, ever since before the moratorium started back in August 2022. Since then the planning commission had several meetings, public workshops, and input from many residents.
Moving forward, Lyn Ashburn who works with the planning commission in research and special projects, has put together her research and gathered information. A resolution will be presented during the meeting. Ashburn states according to the resolution, new utility scale solar developments would have to locate on brown fields, such as a landfill, which is zoned as M-2 High Impact Use District.
The meeting will start at 1 PM and will be held at the Greene County Courthouse Annex Conference Room, located on North Cutler Street.
