The victim who died in a fire Thursday has been identified.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Department says that Bobby L. Ward died in the fire at 2147 Milburnton Road. The single wide mobile home was reported on fire just before 4:30 PM near he Greene/Washington County line.
According to the Sheriff’s Department, flames were visible when officers arrived on the scene. Two witnesses, Deborra Barnes and Kent Black, said that were behind the house working with horses and smelled smoke, but did not see any fire in the area.
The witnesses said that someone drove by and told them the house was on fire. Black kicked in the door to the home, but the he was unable to enter the house due to the flames. Ward’s body was found in the bedroom area of the home.
The Limestone, Newmansville, and Tusculum Volunteer Fire Departments responded, as did the Greene County Sheriff’s Department and Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
No cause of the fire has been determined.
