The Greeneville City Board of Education approved the purchase of Avigilon surveillance cameras during their monthly meeting yesterday evening.
The district utilizes Avigilon surveillance cameras to protect property and human resources. The upgrades and additions were recommended by School Resource Officers. The total projected cost for the project is $116,377.70, through the Public Schools Security Grant funds. Chairman Cindy Lutrell was glad to see and appreciated the collaboration between SRO’s and the administrative staff to keep students even safer.
Other purchases approved include equipment for the Highland Elementary School HVAC Renovation project. The HVAC equipment at Highland was installed in 2000 leaving the equipment at the end of its useful life. Staff applied and won a grant from the Tennessee Valley Authority and the Energy Efficient Schools Initiative, totaling $400,000.
A quote was obtained totaling more than $123,000. The controls equipment and installation were also quoted for over $95,000. Both purchases total $219,085 and will be covered using funds from the grant from TVA and EESI.
The City School Board also approved roof replacement at Highland Elementary School. Morristown roofing submitted a proposal for replacing the roof for a total of $198,520, which includes new gutters and downspouts. There is a 30-year warranty. Insurance and Capitol Budget funds will be utilized for the purchase.
