HARROGATE, Tenn. — Me’Kell Burries scored 16 of his game-high 21 points in the second half as Lincoln Memorial University rallied for a 72-59 victory over Tusculum University in South Atlantic Conference men’s basketball Wednesday night at Tex Turner Arena.
Martez Brown scored 19 points and grabbed a game-high 16 rebounds and Chase Rankin added 17 points for the Railsplitters (14-5, 8-2 SAC), who trailed by nine points late in the first half before Rankin scored 11 straight points just before halftime to give LMU the lead at intermission and eventually their fifth consecutive victory.
Connor Jordan paced the Pioneers (7-9, 5-5 SAC) with 17 points and Akeem Odusipe contributed 11 points and nine rebounds, but the Pioneers shot just 23.3 percent (7-for-30) from the field in the second half and 32.2 percent (19-for-59) for the game. Tusculum, which has not won at Lincoln Memorial since 2005, saw its three-game winning streak come to an end.
