A vehicle was struck by a Norfolk Southern Train on Sunday around 6:45 PM and the driver allegedly left the scene before law enforcement arrived.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol report, a vehicle was improperly parked on the railway crossing (731314P) near Peaceful Valley Lane when it was struck by the train. The Mosheim Volunteer Fire Department, EMS, and Greeneville Rescue Squad responded to the scene.
The train reportedly kept going about a half mile on the tracks before it was able to come to a full stop near the Greene County/Hamblen County line. Volunteers searched for the vehicle that was struck but were unable to locate it. The only description they got was the vehicle was blue.
No charges were listed for the driver of the vehicle or the driver of the train. No injuries were reported.
