A Greeneville woman was arrested following a traffic stop Wednesday afternoon.
An officer with the Greeneville Police Department was on patrol around 1:15 PM when he saw a vehicle with expired tags. A traffic stop was initiated and the driver, identified as Amber Chadwick of Mulberry Road, continued to drive and finally stopped at the intersection of West Andrew Johnson Highway and Worley Drive.
Chadwick had already been issued a citation last week for expired registration and not having insurance. She told the officer the vehicle took a long distance to stop because the brakes are not working correctly.
The officer told her the car would be towed due to her already being issued a citation and the car being unsafe to drive. Chadwick was asked if there was anything illegal in the vehicle and she said no. Chadwick then grabbed her backpack and began to step out. A small plastic baggie was seen in the front pocket, which reportedly had a white powdery substance inside identified as meth.
Chadwick was arrested for possession of meth, and charged again for expired registration and violation of the financial responsibility law.
