With the cold temperatures this week the Tennessee Valley Authority has some winter energy saving tips:
- Keep your outside air unit clean and clear of debris or weeds
- Change air filters monthly
- Put off laundry and running the dishwasher to after 8 PM to reduce power usage during peak periods
- Caulk and weather-strip around windows and doors
- Insulate your attic and walls, and seal cracks and openings to prevent warm air from leaking out
- Use fans to keep air circulating
- Open your blinds and curtains during the day and close them at night
- Turn your thermostat down to 68 degrees at bedtime
- Bundle up with a heated blanket
