A Greeneville man was apparently scammed out of money this week.
The victim was contacted by a man he named in the police report, who told him he had won $500,000. The victim was told he would need to buy a $50 Money Pack Card and give the suspect the number from the card. The victim did so, and the suspect allegedly contacted the victim two more times in order to buy more Money Pack cards and repeat the process.
The report stated that the suspect was supposed to show on Friday, but reached out again to try to get another $200 from the victim. The victim refused and went to the police department to report the possible scam.
The victim is out approximately $650.
