A Poplar Springs Road woman reported more than $14,000 in fraudulent charges.
The victim told the Greene County Sheriff’s Department her phone shut off Thursday while she was at work. She discovered someone had bought a cell phone in her name, shut down her phone, and transferred her information to the new phone. She also discovered the suspect gained access to her Paypal account and made charges for nearly $3,200 and around $7,300. After investigating further, she found a Best Buy credit card had been opened in her name with a charge of nearly $3,800 made in Tucker, Georgia. The suspect then apparently returned $800 worth of merchandise.
According to the police report, the fraudulent charges totaled $14,276.
