Update: The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning for Southeast Greene County from midnight until 10 AM Saturday.
According to the Greeneville/Greene County Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security, an incoming storm this weekend looks to be a rain event for our immediate area; however at some of the highest peaks there may be some ice accumulation.
Most of the wintry weather will stay in North Carolina and Virginia. EMA Director Heather Sipe suggests if you have any travel plans this weekend in those areas, to stay up to date on the forecasts.
According to Sipe, the following are the specifics for our immediate area: GREENE COUNTY
*Wind Advisory: from 1am-10am on Saturday for the mountainous areas and adjacent foothills; sustained 25-35mph with gusts 55mph.
*Winds could push some of the incoming rainfall out of our area
*Ice accumulation is only expected at the highest peaks of our mountain terrain; mainly a rain event for our immediate area, some wintry precipitation might mix in, but NO issues are expected.
