Greeneville City Schools have announced a pilot program offering free school meals for all elementary students beginning today.
All enrolled students at EastView, Hal Henard, Highland and Tusculum View Elementary Schools will receive both breakfast and lunch at no cost to their families for the remainder of the current school year.
Some new federal and state rules have given the district the opportunity to conduct this pilot. The program will be evaluated at the end of the current school year to assess its impact on students, families, and the overall school community. Parents should be prepared for the possibility of the program ending after the current school year. Schools will communicate with parents by providing as much advance notice as possible.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to provide feedback throughout the pilot program and are invited to share their thoughts and experiences with the school principals or by contacting Karen Wilhoit, School Nutrition Supervisor at [email protected].
