A Greeneville man was arrested with indecent exposure, public intoxication, and resisting arrest Monday morning after it was reported a naked man was running through traffic.
Deputies arrived at the 6200 block of West Andrew Johnson Highway and found the man, 29 year-old Jonathan Taylor, who was running from the Pizza Plus property. According to the report, Taylor ran across the highway, went through a creek and into a field. A deputy caught up to him and Taylor followed commands. Taylor reportedly stated he was outside naked because he is Jesus and was trying to get to church.
Taylor was asked to get on the ground so he could be detained but allegedly began to walk away. The deputy tried to detain him and he began resisting, so he was taken to the ground. He was eventually tazed due to not cooperating and was handcuffed.
According to the report, Taylor was possibly under the influence of Methamphetamine and due to his “excited mental state,” and because of resisting, he was also placed in leg shackles. While at the jail he was denied entry due to an elevated heart rate. He was transported to the Greeneville Community Hospital to be checked.
After receiving a sedated drug and calming down, Taylor’s mental health reportedly seemed to improve. He spoke with officers and said he believes a cigarette he smoked might have been laced with some type of drug the night before.
