MEDIC Regional Blood Center is in urgent need of O Negative blood as the usage has been very high and donations have been low, according to Vice President Kristy Altman.
O- blood is the most common blood type requested in trauma incidents. It makes up 7% of the U.S. population. People with O- blood can only receive blood from O- donors. Due to its low population rate and its high request rate, it is important to blood banks that they have O- products available.
Consider donating and make an appointment at medicblood.org. Upcoming blood drives with their MEDIC MOBILE will be held on January 4th at Greeneville Church Of Christ at 1133 Tusculum Boulevard from 12-6 PM, January 11th at Tractor Supply at the Greeneville Commons from 11-6 PM, and Food City on January 22nd, at 905 Snapps Ferry Road from 10-6 PM.
