A Structure Fire was reported last night.
At around 10 p.m. on Thursday, Greene County police responded to a report of a house fire at 11905 Kingsport Highway.
Officers spoke with the victim who stated that she dumped her ashtray into a trashcan in the sunroom. When she returned, she found her trash can to be on fire.
Newmansville Fire responded to the scene and was able to contain and extinguish the fire.
This structure fire marks the fifth in Greene County since last Friday. Emergency personnel responded to a fire on the Kingsport highway last Friday, Oakdale Drive on Saturday, Houston Valley Road on Monday, and Chuckey Ruritain Road on Tuesday.
