State Representative David Hawk today announced over $938,000 for community development projects in Greene County from the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development.
Baileyton received more than $308,000 in Community Development Block Grant funds for park improvements and Greeneville received a $630,000 grant for sidewalk improvements.
Baileyton will use the grant money to install playground equipment at the community park. Funds will also be used to pave the gravel parking lot and access road, making the area more accessible for disabled people.
Greeneville’s grant money will go toward sidewalk and pedestrian facilities improvements along West and East Bernard Avenue.
A total of $36.6 million in grants were awarded to 78 communities across the state.
