There is an Elevated Fire Danger This Afternoon.
Ongoing drought conditions combined with low afternoon relative humidity, will lead to an elevated fire danger risk today.
Relative humidity will drop to near or below 30 percent across much of the area this afternoon. Winds will be generally out of the north to northeast at 5 to 15 mph.
Starting Monday afternoon, there is the addition of a High Wind Watch through Tuesday afternoon.
Southeast winds 25 to 40 mph are anticipated Monday after 3:00 PM, with gusts up to 70 mph possible in the mountains and foothills of east Tennessee.
Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are possible. Fire danger will be increased until rain arrives.
