The owner of an equipment repair business in Newport reported to the Greene County Sheriff’s Department payment was never received for two jobs completed for a Greene County man.
The victim said he was contacted by the suspect on October 15 to repair an excavator. Agreements were signed electronically regarding price and payments.
The job was completed on October 25. The victim sent the suspect links to pay for the job, which totaled around $2,700. On October 27, a second invoice was sent to the suspect. He then said he would pay for that job when a dozer was fixed. The victim then agreed to fix the dozer without payment received on the first job.
The dozer was fixed this week. The victim told the suspect the total for the two jobs would be nearly $7,400. The suspect said he would send a check in the mail, but the victim said it was in the signed agreement that checks were not accepted. The suspect then got into a verbal argument with the victim and reportedly said he was not going to pay.
The victim included recorded phone calls, text messages and pictures in the police report.
