Skeletal remains found last week in western Greene County have been identified as those from a man missing since 2018.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Department says that the remains have been identified as those of Homer Marshall Ricker. Ricker was reported missing by his family members in February of 2019. He had last been seen in December of 2018 walking in the Mohawk/Bulls Gap area.
A hunter on Idell Road had been scouting the property for deer and came upon what he believed to be skeletal remains last Tuesday. The hunter led Sheriff Wesley Holt to what appeared to be a human skull.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Department’s Criminal Investigation Division and Human Remains Detection K9 “Ruger” also responded to the scene. While processing the area, more skeletal remains were discovered.
Holt said the remains appeared to have been in the location for quite a while.
