Skeletal remains were found this morning in the Mohawk area.
According to a press release from the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, Sheriff Wesley Holt met with a hunter on Idell Road around 9:30 this morning. The hunter had been reportedly scouting the property for deer and came upon what he believed to be skeletal remains. The hunter led Sheriff Holt to what appeared to be a human skull.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Department’s Criminal Investigation Division and Human Remains Detection K9 “Ruger” also responded to the scene. While processing the area, more skeletal remains were discovered.
Holt said the remains appeared to have been in the location for quite a while. The remains were sent to ETSU’s William L. Jenkins Forensic Center in hopes to make a positive identification.
