A Greeneville man was arrested for DUI Sunday after he was reportedly driving recklessly around South Greene High School.
Clayton Ward of Dodd Branch Road was caught on school cameras around noon doing donuts in the parking lot and burnouts onto the Asheville Highway, leaving multiple black tire marks in the school parking lot. He turned onto Crum Circle, lost control of his Ford Explorer, and wrecked through a fence into a cow field. He then allegedly fled the scene when told law enforcement was called.
According to the report, he was found by deputies after attempting to hide. Ward was brought back to the scene and admitted to driving while intoxicated. He performed poorly on field sobriety tests and blew a .236 on the intoximeter.
Ward was charged with DUI 1st offense, vandalism, leaving the scene of an accident involving damage, and reckless driving.
