A man was arrested Friday evening after nearly striking a Greeneville Police Department patrol car with his vehicle.
A Kia Rio was following the patrol car closely on Tusculum Boulevard around 5:45 Friday evening, and nearly sideswiped the cruiser when the officer moved into the left-turn lane at College Street. The Kia struck the curb near the Main Street intersection and stopped.
The driver, 55-year-old Randall Bowens of North Irish Street, reportedly handed over his entire wallet to the officer. When told he just needed to give his driver license, Bowens allegedly handed a credit card instead. Bowens admitted to taking an Ambien about an hour earlier, and was charged with DUI third offense.
