A Chuckey woman is facing numerous charges after being stopped for DUI on Thursday morning.
Around 10:45 AM, an officer with the Greeneville Police Department saw a vehicle swerving within its lane on Tusculum Boulevard before turning into the Greeneville Commons and running off the road onto the curb.
A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified as 36-year-old Veronica Fletcher. She reportedly appeared intoxicated and performed poorly on field sobriety tests. A search of the vehicle produced numerous pills, including medication prescribed to patients at Newport Post Acute and Rehab. The officer spoke with Fletcher’s supervisor, who said Fletcher had been terminated the previous day and the medication belonged to the facility. Fletcher was transported to the Greene County Detention Center, where she allegedly refused to submit a blood draw.
She was charged with with theft, possessing a legend drug without a prescription, possession of a schedule 5 drug, DUI 2nd offense, driving on a revoked license, and violation of implied consent.
