A vehicle fire was reported Tuesday afternoon to the Greene County Sheriff’s Department.
A Friendship Road North man stated he was driving his 2005 Ford Mustang on Gap Mountain Road around 1:00 PM when he noticed a burning wire smell. He saw smoke, pulled over, and attempted to open the hood. His attempts to get the hood open were unsuccessful.
The car was engulfed in flames in the front end when the Sheriff’s Department arrived on the scene.
The United Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the scene and extinguished the fire.
The car was valued at $5,000.
