A man was taken to the hospital Monday morning after possibly having a medical episode and crashing at the intersection of West Summer Street and West Andrew Johnson Highway.
According to the report from the Greeneville Police Department, someone witnessed the crash and said the driver, William A. Rigsby, took an exit and then traveled up an embankment. Rigsby reportedly hit a tree and his vehicle rolled over. EMS arrived and transported him to the Johnson City Medical Center due to his injuries.
According to EMS, Rigsby called 911 prior to the accident due to possibly having a heart attack. He was reportedly driving himself to the hospital and it is believed he had a medical episode while driving there. A witness also stated it seemed as if Rigsby passed out before his vehicle hit the tree.
