The Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development reported today that Greene County’s unemployment rate in August was 4.0 percent, down from 4.6 percent in July.
Greene County’s rate a year ago was 4.1 percent.
The unemployment rate for August 2023 decreased in 93 Tennessee counties and remained the same in two counties. Moore County had the lowest rate at 2.4 percent, while Lauderdale County had the highest rate at 5.8 percent.
The state unemployment rate for August remained at Tennessee’s historic low level. The seasonally adjusted rate was unchanged from July’s record of 3.1 percent.
