In a special Tuesday Night Lights contest due to some strong storms back in week three, Greeneville and Morristown West clashed Tuesday evening from Burley Stadium. Greeneville would hold off a second-half surge from the Trojans for a 27-21 victory to move to 3-0 on the season.
With Greeneville’s misfortunes this season due to Mother Nature with two games ended prematurely, the Greene Devils wasted no time flying out the gates with some scoring drives. After solid drives, both Carson Quillen and Corbin Cannon would score on short runs leading to a 14-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The leg of Greeneville kicker Quinton Brandon would be the story of the second quarter as he would record field goals of 24 and 47 yards to give the Greene Devils a 20-0 lead at the half.
The Trojans would storm back in the second half though with 176 yards of total offense after only recording 36 in the first half. After Morristown West cut the lead to one score, a touchdown run of 33 yards from Amanuel Dickson would separate the Greene Devils enough for a win. Following a late score from the Trojans, Greeneville would hold on to secure a 27-21 victory to remain unbeaten this season.
Carson Quillen ran for 136 yards while Amanuel Dickson added 62 and Bryson Myers added 65 on the ground. Corbin Cannon threw for 86 yards with Zayden Anderson the leading receiver with three receptions for 40 yards. Greeneville has a short turnaround with a trip to Volunteer scheduled for Friday night with coverage on 99.5 FM WGRV.
