The Greene County Commission will meet this evening and will discuss proclamations for the month of October including Domestic Violence Awareness, National Breast Cancer Awareness, and Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness.
The commission will rededicate the Seaton Family Cemetery, declaring “Patriot Benjamin Seaton Day” in Greene County each 3rd day of September. The proclamation is to honor the history and heritage of Greene County, which was established in 1783, and patriots like Benjamin Seaton and his descendants.
The commission will also hold public hearings; Executive Director David Varney will speak from the Greene County Anti Drug-Coalition. Items on the agenda include the appointment of members to various board, and committees, a resolution to appropriate funds for departments, and a resolution to approve amendments made to the Employee Handbook, like the “Juneteenth” Holiday and a new Social Media Policy.
The commission meets at 6 PM tonight at the Greene County Courthouse in the Criminal Courtroom.
