The Greeneville Municipal Planning Commission approved a site plan for another Dollar General retail store that would be located near the intersection of US 11-E and Hal Henard Road.
The proposed 12,480 sq. ft. building will be between the Harvest Family Restaurant and John Deer Meade Tractor. This site is larger model footprint compared to other Dollar General’s in the area and could be geared more toward food based on the plan that was submitted. Planning Director Randy Davenport says this lot has been sitting for a while, and the site was proposed about a year ago, but just recently the developers have decided to proceed with the construction.
It’s a total of 2.11 acres with 41 parking spaces and was approved subject to developers getting a driveway permit from the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) and the Notice of Coverage (NOC) permit from the Tennessee Department of Environmental Conservation (TDEC). Davenport says there are about 20-25 Dollar General stores within the county and added, “We cant control what comes into Greeneville,” the commission’s job is just to make sure they meet regulations and zoning requirements.
The board also elected officers to serve for this upcoming year. Linda Riley was elected as Chairman, Ginny Kidwell was elected to Vice-Chairman, and Anita Ricker was re-elected as Secretary.
All officially welcomed Justin Schooly as a new staff member to the Planning Department. Schooly is from West Palm Beach, Florida and has been working based on a contract basis. Because of the budget that was passed the department was able to officially hire him to their staff.
