Two were held at gunpoint by property owners after a motor vehicle accident on Lonesome Pine Trail Saturday morning.
According to the report, the vehicle hit a light pole and took out 3 mailboxes in the process. The Greene County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene and spoke with the suspect, Colton Story of Greeneville, who appeared to be under the influence. Story reportedly had slurred speech and delayed movement. He stated he was held at gunpoint by two people who allegedly also beat him.
Deputies spoke with the men who owned the mailboxes that were hit and said they came outside when they heard the wreck. They found Story and the passenger in a field beside their house and admitted to holding them at gunpoint. Story said he must have looked down for too long, causing his vehicle to leave the roadway and hit the light pole. Him and the passenger ran into a field next to a house before being confronted by the owner.
After performing poorly on sobriety tests, Story was arrested and transported to the Greene County Detention Center. He later told deputies he had Marijuana in his system but reportedly refused to give a blood sample. A search warrant was obtained and blood was taken at the hospital. He was charged with Driving Under the Influence.
