The Greene County Sheriff’s Department is warning citizens of a scam.
According to a press release from Sheriff Wesley Holt, the department has received reports of scam phone calls that come from an individual identifying themselves as an officer and asking for money to take care of an arrest warrant or other legal paper.
These phone calls are not legitimate. The Greene County Sheriff’s Department will never contact anyone by phone asking for payment to satisfy a warrant or other legal paper.
If you receive one of these calls, hang up and not not send any money.
