Through four games this season, Greeneville will remain at only 2-0. After a great first half of football, Mother Nature would step in and halt the showdown between Greeneville and Alcoa with the score 7-7. Following an over two-hour delay, the weather would not improve and the game would be officially called at 10:00 p.m.
Since the game was a non-region matchup, it’ll officially go down as a “No Contest” and both teams will remain unbeaten this season. Greeneville is familiar with this as the same thing happened two weeks ago with Greeneville’s matchup with Dobyns-Bennett as lightning caused that game to be called early in the 3rd quarter with the score tied at 14.
Greeneville will hope for better weather next Friday night as they host Morristown West from Burley Stadium.
On the Greene County schedule for Friday, the Gateway Ford/Nissan County Game of the Week will feature a showdown of undefeated county teams matchup as South Greene makes the trip to Lower Afton to play the Chuckey-Doak Black Knights. Coverage begins with the PreGame Scoreboard Show at 6:30 p.m. with kickoff at 7:30 p.m. on both WGRV and WIKQ.
Also on the schedule, North Greene will host Cumberland Gap with kickoff scheduled at 7:30 p.m. on 95.5 FM WSMG and West Greene will travel to Eagleton Academy for a region matchup.
