The Greeneville City Council passed a motion to provide funds for a pay increase to Greeneville/Greene County Library employees.
City Manager Todd Smith said those employees weren’t originally included in the pay scale that was approved with the 2024 budget. The library is a joint venture between Greeneville and Greene County, meaning both parties are responsible for the library.
It was recommended that funds be split between both parties to include library employees in the pay scale. Council Member Scott Bullington made a motion that the town pay their 50%, which is $21,000, regardless of what the county decided. That motion was passed unanimously and Mayor Cal Doty challenged Greene County to match those funds.
