Five people were transported to the Hospital Sunday afternoon after two vehicles collided on I-81 South near MM 29.
According to the report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the driver from Virginia, April Dias, was traveling southbound when her tire blew out, causing her to loose control. The vehicle swerved in between lanes before colliding with the second vehicle. After the collision, the car driven by Dias rolled over and came to a stop in the median. The second vehicle also came to a final rest at the median.
All five occupants in the first vehicle were taken to the hospital with Dias and an 11 year-old passenger being airlifted by helicopter. Occupants in the second vehicle did not receive injuries, according to the report. Charges are currently pending for Dias.
