A Greeneville man was arrested Thursday afternoon following a traffic stop on West Andrew Johnson Highway.
An officer with the Greeneville Police Department stopped a pickup truck driven by Cody L. Fillers of Hummingbird Lane for speeding around Lonesome Pine Trail.
As the officer approached the vehicle, Fillers reportedly refused to provide a license, registration or proof of insurance. The officer explained Fillers had committed a traffic offense and had to provide the required documents or he would transported to Greene County Detention Center. At this point, Fillers reportedly started filming on his phone and refused to step out of the vehicle. The officer then opened the driver’s door and asked Fillers to step out. When he stepped out of the truck, the officer noticed a handgun on his hip in a holster. Fillers was ordered to raise his hands and not to move while the officer disarmed him. The officer was able to grab the handgun, but Fillers did not hold still as ordered. The officer then placed the gun into the bed of the truck while he attempted to place Fillers into custody.
As the officer tried to cuff Fillers, he reportedly jerked his hands away multiple times. Fillers then acted as if he was attempting to grab either the phone or the handgun that was placed into the back of the pick up.
Fillers was eventually handcuffed and placed into the back of the patrol car. When he arrived at the Greene County Detention Center, he admitted to having a small amount of marijuana in his pocket.
Fillers was charged with resisting arrest, possession of a schedule 6 drug, violation of the financial responsibility law and speeding.
