A Rogersville man was arrested in Greeneville following a traffic stop on Monday night.
An officer with the Greeneville Police Department stopped a vehicle with a headlight out on East Andrew Johnson Highway. The driver, Jimmy Dodson, said the headlight was just dim and he had a small battery-powered lantern behind the light, which was not visible when the vehicle passed the officer.
A K-9 officer was requested to the scene and had a positive alert on the vehicle. A search produced a baggie containing two grams of a substance identified as methamphetamine. Dodson and a passenger in the vehicle were then detained.
A syringe, a plastic baggie and a spoon with drug residue were found inside of a jacket pocket in the front seat. Dodson reportedly claimed ownership of the items. He also had two more syringes in his pants pocket.
The passenger was allowed to leave the scene. Dodson was arrested for possession of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also charged with not having required lights on his motor vehicle.
