A Greeneville man was arrested for aggravated assault after he reportedly slashed another man with a knife late Sunday night.
An officer with the Greeneville Police Department responded to Locust Street and found the victim bleeding from the left side of his face and on his left arm. The victim said he had been working on his vehicle when Randall Griffin came up and accused him of stealing his box fan. The victim said Griffin started making threats to him. As the victim approached him, Griffin pulled his hand from behind his back and slashed the victim two times in the face and once in the arm with a foldable box knife.
Griffin then reportedly ran from the scene on foot. The victim was transported to Greeneville Community Hospital for treatment.
Griffin was located outside a residence on North Highland Street a short time later and taken into custody. According to the report, he told police he started to argue with the victim and then blacked out with rage. He told police when he realized what was going on, it was too late so he ran into the woods. Griffin said he discarded the knife and was unsure of its location.
Griffin did not have any injuries or marks on his body. He was transported to the Greene County Detention Center for aggravated assault.
