This year’s election is only for those who reside within Greeneville’s 1st ward. The only race on the ballot is for 1st ward council member, with Ginny Kidwell, Kristin Girton and Tim Ward running.
Girton was first elected to the council in 2021. Kidwell was chosen last year to fill a vacant seat on the council and previously served on the Greeneville Board of Mayor and Aldermen for 10 years. Ward retired as chief of the Greeneville Police Department in April after serving nearly 33 years with the town.
Early voting continues through Saturday, July 29. Monday there were 17 early votes casted with 30 on Tuesday, making the total of early votes now 112. Hours for voting at the Greene County Election Commission Office on CCU Boulevard will be 8:30 AM until 4:30 PM Monday through Friday and Saturday from 8:30 AM until noon. The Greeneville Municipal Election will be held on Thursday, August 3.
