New Administration At Greene County Schools

Educators met at North Greene this morning for the first of four in-service events

1. Dennis Wilds has been named principal at West Greene High School. Wilds has 19 years of professional experience, the past ten years in administration. He served as principal at Ottway Elementary School (2013-2015), Newport Grammar School (2015-2017), and Camp Creek Elementary School (2017-2023). Mr. Wilds earned his Bachelor’s Degree from ETSU (2004), Master’s Degree from Bethel University (2013), and his Educational Specialist Degree from Arkansas State University (2018). Wilds is married to Sierra Wilds, and they have two children Hayden and Shawna.

2. Travis Murvin has been named the Principal at Camp Creek Elementary. The 2023-24 school year will be his 20th year in education. For the last 17 years, he has worked as both a teacher and an Assistant Principal at Chuckey-Doak Middle School. During his time as an educator in the classroom, he has taught 8th grade science, 7th grade World Geography, and 6th grade Math. His educational background consists of the following: a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Tusculum University, a Master of Arts in Education from the University of Phoenix, and congruently holds an Ed.S in Curriculum and Instruction as well as Instructional Leadership from Lincoln Memorial University. Travis is married to LeAnne with three wonderful children. Evan is a Junior at Carson Newman University, Kaydin is a Freshman at ETSU, and Brasen is a Senior at Chuckey-Doak High School.

3. Dr. Wendy Taylor has been named the Principal at McDonald Elementary. Dr. Taylor joined McDonald Elementary School in 2016 as the Reading Interventionist. Since being there she has been the building testing coordinator and technology facilitator. She is very excited for this next chapter as the principal to continue the great things happening at the school. This is Dr. Taylor’s 23rd year in education, 15 of which have been in Greene County. As a classroom teacher, Dr. Taylor has taught 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grades and has been an adjunct teacher at college level. Dr. Taylor earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education at East Tennessee State University, a Master’s Degree from Tusculum University, an Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership and Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction from Lincoln Memorial University. Dr. Taylor is married to Bryan and has two children, Madison and Ethan.

4. Logan Minnick has been named the Assistant Principal at West Greene High School. Minnick has been an educator in Greene County Schools since 2016. Minnick started his teaching career teaching middle school social studies and science and has been teaching career and technical education courses at West Greene High School for the past five years. In addition to teaching, Minnick has been the head coach of the West Greene men’s soccer team. Minnick received his Master’s in Educational Leadership from Carson-Newman University in 2022 and is pursuing his Doctorate in Administrative Leadership. Logan resides in Greene County with his wife, Ariel and children, Kieran and Camden.

5. Susie Buchanan has been named the Assistant Principal at North Greene High School. Buchanan graduated from Tusculum University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts in Special Education. She earned her Master’s in Educational Leadership in 2011 and her Ed.S in Education in 2014, both from Union College. She started teaching Special Education at North Greene in 2002 and has continued in that role until now. Susie and her husband James have two children, Grace and Mercy. The Buchanans attend Liberty Free Will Baptist Church.

6. Derek Sams has been named Assistant Principal at Chuckey-Doak Middle School. Sams started his career in 2014 at Chuckey Elementary and Glenwood Elementary before moving to Chuckey-Doak High School in 2016. He grew up in Greene County and is a graduate of West Greene High School. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from East Tennessee State University, a Master’s Degree in School Counseling from Liberty University, and an Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from Lincoln Memorial University. Mr. Sams and his wife, Chelsea, reside in Chuckey with their two daughters, Campbell and Charli.

7. Phillip Cutshaw has been named the Associate Principal at South Greene High School. Cutshaw was born and raised in Greene County. He graduated from South Greene, then continued his education by obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Tusculum University. He was hired by Greene County Schools in 2005 and has worked at Debusk, Nolachuckey, and South Greene for the last 16 years. Phillip earned his Master’s in Educational Administration from Lincoln Memorial University in 2020. Phillip resides in Greene County with his wife, Stacy and children, Andrew and Lucas.
