Two were arrested after a pursuit began Sunday night in Bulls Gap when officers responded to the report of a burglary in progress.
Deputies were notified of a white van at 1035 Speedwell Church Road and found the van in a driveway near the mentioned address. According to the report, once their patrol vehicle approached the van began reversing and left at a high rate of speed. The driver, confirmed to be Brittany Carpenter of Whitesburg, TN, was allegedly driving erratically and continued down Speedwell Lane until she hit a dead end.
Carpenter drove down a muddy trail when her and the passenger, Timothy Williams of Bulls Gap, reportedly jumped out of the moving vehicle. She was eventually found hiding behind bushes in what looked to be a creek dam. Williams was tased and detained after he ignored deputies commands.
Both were given several charges including resisting stop, frisk, halt, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Animal Control was also called to the scene to remove a dog from the van.
