An employee of Dollar General on Erwin Highway near 107 Cutoff allegedly stole more than $1,000 from the store while on duty.
The store manager reported Thursday to the Greene County Sheriff’s Department that if a customer did not take the receipt after a purchase, the employee would keep it. When the customer left, the employee would return the transaction for the total amount and take the cash to the break room in her hand. She would then return to the register without the cash.
The employee has worked at the store since May. The alleged incidents took place between June 15 and July 7, with the stolen cash totaling $1,091. According to the report, the manager is still reviewing surveillance video. The employee, who was named in the police report, has not been charged yet.
