A man fled on foot from the Greeneville Police Department Monday and was caught that afternoon after an officer chased him near Hal Henard Elementary School.
According to the report, officers first spotted a vehicle Monday morning at McDonalds on Tusculum Boulevard. The officer saw a vehicle and recognized the driver, Chester Ricker of Greeneville, who had active warrants and a suspended license. Ricker turned onto Spruce Street and came to a stop, then allegedly fled from the vehicle into a wooded area. The vehicle was released to the passenger and warrants were taken out for him.
At about noon, officers reportedly saw the passenger driving the suspect’s vehicle. She was told she would be charged if seen transporting Ricker. Officers saw Ricker in the vehicle as he was trying to hide. A traffic stop was initiated and the report says he ran into the woods again. Officers chased him on foot as he refused to comply. He stopped when threatened with a Taser and was taken into custody. The woman transporting him was also detained.
The department found 1 gram of Meth in the vehicle. They were both charged with Possession of Meth and the woman was charged with accessory after the fact. Ricker was charged with evading and resisting arrest as well as additional warrants.
