A man was arrested with several charges on Snapps Ferry Road after he evaded the Greeneville Police Department Wednesday evening.
The officer was on routine patrol when he observed a vehicle driving onto the sidewalk when making a turn. The driver, later identified as Charles Herkley, was reportedly driving reckless, going across the centerline and into the incoming traffic lane. After a pursuit he finally stopped near Piggyback Lane and gave up without incident.
Herkley admitted he had just used a drug prior to him fleeing and performed poorly on sobriety tests given. He also admitted to throwing drugs out the window near Woodside Drive. Officers later located a large amount of cocaine at that location. A search was done on the vehicle and several more drugs were found, along with large amounts of cash. In total, they reportedly found 24 grams of crack cocaine, 12 grams of powdered cocaine, several oxycodone pills, 3.5 grams of marijuana, and a small amount of heroin.
He was given multiple charges including evading arrest, reckless driving, DUI, and unlawful drug paraphernalia.
