A man was arrested this morning with several charges after evading the Greeneville Police Department, causing several other departments to join the pursuit.
A vehicle was seen after 1 AM by an officer traveling 66 mph on a 45 mph zone, near East Andrew Johnson Highway and Burns Street. According to the report, a traffic stop was attempted but the vehicle sped up, ignoring lights and sirens. The driver, later identified as Joshua Weaver, was swerving in and out lanes with speeds up to 80 mph and almost got into an accident near the median at Chick-fil-A.
The pursuit continued and Weaver reportedly kept evading the officer, running a red light, and continued swerving in between lanes. At this point Tusculum Police joined the pursuit along with Washington County Sheriff’s, Jonesborough Police, and Johnson City Police. The suspect’s vehicle was eventually spiked by Johnson City and he was taken into custody.
The Greeneville Police Department charged Weaver with speeding, felony evading, reckless endangerment x2, and running a red light. He was also given several charges by Jonesborough and Johnson City Police.
