A man fled police after a traffic stop Friday evening.
Police observed a maroon Hyundai registered to a person known to not have a driver’s license. Officers stopped the vehicle around 5:30 PM on Arnold Road and West Summer Street, and made contact with the driver, Jeffrey Hughes of West Irish Street. While talking with Hughes, the passenger of the vehicle, exited the car and ran down the road. Officers ordered the passenger to stop, but the man continued. He was identified as Brian Manuel who had a confirmed capias through the Greene County Jail.
Hughes allegedly admitted there was a used meth pipe in the center console. A search found a meth pipe with residue and a baggie with residue. Police issued Hughes a summons for driving with no license, financial responsibility, and unlawful drug paraphernalia.
Warrants are expected to be taken out on Manuel for resisting arrest.
