Charges are pending for a man who physically assaulted another man at a store on West Summer Street.
Police responded Wednesday to Lee’s Food Mart on the report of broken glass on the floor. After reviewing footage deputies saw a fight break out the day before. A shirtless man was seen on footage approach the Greeneville man, who was grabbing beer and started punching him in the face.
The victim attempted to defend himself and tried hitting him with a case of beer but ended up falling due to being hit. The suspect allegedly continued assaulting him as he was on the ground until he became unconscious and stomped on him before leaving the store.
According to the report, the victim had to go to the hospital and received stitches in his face and nose. The victim had several cuts, a swollen black and blue eye, and will need to have surgery. The assault was reportedly over a woman.
Charges are pending for the suspect who was named in the report, for aggravated assault.
