Two Chuckey men and a Jonesborough woman were arrested on Saturday night after the Greene County Sheriff’s Department responded to the report of shots being fired at a property in the 1800 block of Fishpond Road.
James Shelton of Fishpond Road was found sitting inside a car. Another suspect, William Shelton of Horse Creek Road, was told to exit the vehicle and he complied. After James Shelton came back clear of warrants, he walked inside a camper on the property.
A deputy then saw a glass pipe in the car. A search of the vehicle produced more drug paraphernalia, along with a baggie of two grams of meth and a 9mm pistol with two rounds in the magazine.
Deputies knocked on the camper door and ordered James Shelton to come out. William Shelton and a third suspect, Miranda Hammett of Cedar Ridge Lane, were found hiding under a bed after deputies entered the camper. Hammett had an outstanding warrant.
Deputies also discovered a motorcycle on the property was stolen from Johnson City and the registration sticker on the license plate was stolen from Carter County. The three said someone named Sam dropped the motorcycle off to be worked on, but they could not give a last name. The owner of the motorcycle was contacted and the vehicle was released to him.
All three were charged with receiving or concealing stolen property. James Shelton was also charged with the manufacture, delivery, sale or possession of meth, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
