Within the first seven pitches of the game from Upperman to Greeneville, the Greene Devils would score one run, and one hour later, it would be the deciding run in the game as the Greene Devils would defeat Upperman 1-0 to claim the Class AAA State Baseball Championship.
Carson Quillen would pitch a complete game, shutout with seven strikeouts giving up only three hits in the game. Mr. Baseball in Class AAA Eli Huddleston would strike out seven as well giving up four hits and one earned run in the loss for Upperman.
Greeneville was led in the game by base hits from Maddox Bishop, Parker Shipley, and Colton Richards. Bishop scored the game-winning run on a passed ball in the bottom of the first inning.
Greeneville wins their second baseball state title in school history with their last coming in 2018 in Class AA. The Greene Devils finish the season with a school-record 36-4 record.
