A Greeneville woman was charged with DUI after being stopped by a Greeneville police officer early Tuesday morning.
The officer received a report around 2:15 AM of a possible intoxicated driver in a blue Hyundai car. The vehicle was found pulling out from the Roadrunner Market at Kingsport Highway. The driver went across the center line and back over to the white line multiple times.
The officer stopped the car at Marsh Petroleum on Baileyton Highway. The driver was identified as Carolyn Helton of John Graham Road. She had a strong odor of alcohol on her person and slurred speech. There were two unopened 40-ounce beers on the floorboard of the vehicle.
Helton performed poorly on field sobriety tests. She was charged with DUI 3rd offense and violation of an interlock device. She had previously had DUIs in 2005 and 2014 and her vehicle did not have a required ignition interlock device.
