Another electronic manipulation was reported on Sunday after a Greeneville man paid to get a dog through an advertisement on Facebook.
The victim contacted a woman through Facebook who claimed her name was a Pamela Cornwell. However, the actual Pamela Cornwell had previously reported to authorities that her Facebook account was hacked and that she no longer uses that account. The woman pretending to be Cornwell stated she wanted $150 to hold the dog until the victim returned from vacation. The victim reportedly paid those funds through Facebook but the scammer said the funds were never received. He continued sending money and ended up paying a total of $750.
The scammer provided a drivers license with an address where the victim could pick up the dog, but when he arrived at that location, nobody was there. No further information was provided on the report.
